I joined the LPC a few years ago largely because I have an unshakeable view that pharmacists’ skills can and should be better utilised within the NHS.
Qualifying in 1980 I worked initially for the Co-Op in Cambridge, soon moving to the Midlands to work for a small private company in that thriving metropolis, Brownhills. I have been at Whittington near Lichfield since 1990 and also own, along with my wife, Gill, the pharmacy in Brereton, Rugeley.
I became a supplementary prescriber in 2005 and in addition to community pharmacy, work for the PCT at Dosthill Medical Centre, Tamworth, where I run various clinics around medicines management. I am an occasional writer for “Prescriber” magazine.
Hobbies include organic gardening, cycling, collecting elderly motorcycles, amateur theatre, playing part time in a ceilidh band - and any other passing whim! I am married (to the aforementioned Gill) and have two “grown up” sons.
