Palliative Care Training Evenings Print E-mail

Monday, 21 June 2010

We have managed to avoid any clashes with the world cup (hopefully), but we would like to invite you to attend a local training evening that has been organised between the LPC (on behalf of Pharmacists) and the Palliative Care Team for the PCT.

As some of you are aware there are a number of pharmacies and GP surgeries involved in the Palliative Care Box Scheme and the PCT is looking to develop this further and recruit more pharmacies and surgeries.

The training evenings are designed for existing supporters of the programme to discuss with colleagues the way it works, what the problems are and how to make the service run smoother and also to review the audit data you have been sending in. It is also relevant to anyone interested in developing their service in their pharmacy as it will provide some good context about the service and how to run it.

We are really hoping we will get a good turn out of pharmacists and nursing staff for the evenings as this will provide some great shared learning and a mechanism to develop the service from each others' perspectives.

We are running the evening in two locations, so please choose the evening that is most convenient to you. As always the meetings will start at 7pm with food and finish by 9.30pm.

Monday 5th July
Wiggin Centre, Robert Peel Hopsital Tamworth B78 3NG

Thursday 8th July
Rodbaston College, Nr Penkeridge ST19 5PH

These evenings are great for all members of staff in the pharmacy, not just the pharmacist, they count towards everyone's CPD and they provide an opportunity to meet other pharmacists in your area.

The PCT are holding a series of training events across the area for all staff who are eligible for an NHS mail account.

The training sessions will go into what they are, how to use, issues around them and basically everything you ever wanted to know about them.

All pharmacists along with other health care professionals are entitled to an NHS mail account and indeed are encouraged to use them as a safer mode of communicating within the NHS.

There are two further sessions of this training booked (these are not just for pharmacists and will be multidisciplinary - which will be useful).

Wednesday 26th May – Merlin House Tamworth, 1.30 – 4.30
Wednesday 2nd June 9.30 – 12.30 at Crooked Bridge Training Room, St George’s Stafford

If you are interested in accessing this training or have any questions about NHS mail at all please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
